Post taking up issues like menstrual hygiene and open defecation, Akshay Kumar is ready to tell the tale of India's first gold medal as a free nation at the 1948 London Olympics in 'Gold'. While the teaser of Reema Kagti directorial has already piqued the audience interests, the new poster is even more intrusive.

As the spirit of patriotism is dripping from the passionate actor's eyes, the tricoloured flag in his hand is enough to fill every Indian with a sense of pride. Akshay plays a Bengali hockey player in the pre-Indian independence era who leads the path of nation's excruciating journey for winning an independent medal.

Sharing the new poster, film’s producer Farhan Akhtar tweeted, "All victories begin with a dream. It fills me with immense joy to present to you the official poster of #Gold, a film that is very close to my heart." Leading man Akshay Kumar took the same poster to Twitter along some heart-wrenching lines.

He wrote, "Desh banta hai jab sab deshvasiyon ki aankhon mein ek sapna hota hai." If loosely translated, the lines specify, "A country is formed when countrymen have a dream in their eyes." With an intense look in eyes, the actor is sporting a grey striped suit while looking ahead seriously.

Film's producer Ritesh Sidhwani clarified that Gold is fictional story while talking to PTI, "It is not a biopic. It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports... About hockey. It is not based on any character."

Gold marks the Bollywood debut of popular television actress Mouni Roy and also features Amit Sadh in a pivotal role. Shot across UK and India, the film will release around the 70th anniversary (August 12) of free India’s first Gold medal at the 1948 Olympics on August 15.
