Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan has a tradition of celebrating his birthday, which falls on November 7, in a big way with the public, often undertaking public service activities such as blood donation camps.

Amidst reports of 62-year-old Haasan launching his own political party, he has asked fans to 'get ready' for his birthday. In a column in a popular Tamil magazine, Haasan said that he will "give details of arrangements soon and will ensure that fans can coordinate" with his team and him, adding that "I invite with folded hands those who think it's their responsibility to serve Tamil Nadu."

Although reports of Haasan launching his own political party have been coming for months, no date has been officially announced. Last month, inspired by the Aam Aadmi Party of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Haasan had said that he will recruit "fresh, young faces" and crowd-source funds to ensure transparency in his party.

While Haasan has admitted to being inspired by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and had also conducted a meeting with its head Arvind Kejriwal some weeks back, he has ruled out any arrangement with AAP. Haasan has also ruled out any connections with BJP, stating that "saffron is not my colour".

Despite initially supporting the demonetisation announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Haasan later retracted his statements, saying that even the PM should apologise for the 'mistake' of demonetisation.

Haasan has frequently berated the current Tamil Nadu government, alleging that the ruling AIADMK is embedded in corruption.
