Filmy Friday: Manmarziyaan, Love Sonia And Mitron To Battle On The Big Screen

Once again its Friday and time for new movies to hit the big screen, and this week Manmarziyaan, Love Sonia and Mitron all mark their release. While Manmarziyaan starring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan is a love story, Love Sonia is a hard-hitting film based on human trafficking and Mitron starring Jackky Bhagnani and Kritika Kamra is a slice of life film.

A love story to suit the modern age of commitment phobia, Anurag Kashyap directorial Manmarziyaan, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu is a love triangle between the 3 stars with a tagline "Love isn’t complicated, people are.”

Taapsee plays the role of Rumi who is in love with the wild and adventurous Vicky played by Vicky Kaushal. Vicky loves Rumi but is afraid of commitment and as Rumi pressures Vicky for marriage, and gives him an ultimatum according to which if he doesn't meet her parents, she will marry someone else. Next enters Robbie played by Abhishek Bachchan, a straight-forward serious guy chosen by Rumi's parents who marries her. The news of Rumi getting married comes as a shock to Vicky, who then fights to get her back.  

Love Sonia

Based on real-life events, 'Love Sonia' has made waves internationally even before its release in India and is based on a gritty story of human trafficking, starring Mrunal Thakur, Riya Sisodiya, Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadda, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain and Rajkummar Rao.

Sonia and Preeti are two sisters close to each other and when their father sells off Preeti, Sonia is distraught and goes in search of Preeti. However, Sonia herself falls victim to a human trafficking ring and gets trapped. The trailer hints at the miseries and ordeals those in the sex trade face.


Directed by Nitin Kakkar of Filmistaan fame, Mitron is produced by Vikram Malhotra and presented by Abundantia Entertainment. The film is a remake of the award-winning 2016 Telugu film Pelli Choopulu and follows the story of Jay (Jackky Bhagnani) and Avni (Kritika Kamra).

Easygoing Jay is directionless and lazy when his parents decide to marry him off to bring stabiulity in his life. He comes into contact with Avni, who is an ambitious MBA graduate and wants to start her own business.
