Bollywood actor Rekha is set to be served a notice by the BMC for disallowing a team of civic officials on door-to-door dengue surveillance from inspecting her Bandra residence on Saturday.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, team from the insecticides branch of the civic public health department was in Bandra to check the residences of several celebrities, including those of Sachin Tendulkar, Reena Roy, Aamir Khan and Farhan Akthar which were declared free of mosquito hotspots.
However, the team was met with closed gates at Rekha's residence. "Our team was denied entry as Rekha was not at home. On Monday, the BMC will serve her a notice under section 488 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act. The Act empowers the civic team to forcefully enter premises for inspection," the report quoted a BMC official as saying.
He added that if Rekha declines to accept the notice, the same will be pasted on her residence, and the civic team will conduct an inspection of her home with the help of the local police.
BMC will issue a notice to Zoya Akthar as the inspection team found a breeding spot for mosquitoes at her residence.
