The 2015 film Talvar, based on the true story of the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case received both critical and commercial acclaim, and now the makers are back with a sequel to Talvar, which will reportedly be based on the Ryan school murder case of 7-year-old Pradyuman Thakur.

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, the writer of Talvar will once again be joining hands with the Junglee Pictures production house that backed the 2015 film for its sequel Talvar 2. The sequel will be based on the murder of 7-year-old Pradyuman who was found dead with his throat slit in the Ryan International School in Gurgaon, where he was a Class 2 student and its screenplay would be written by Vishal Bhardwaj himself.

The murder of Pradyuman on school premises resulted in outrage across the nation, similar to the protests that took place after the Aarushi-Hemraj murders. The Pradyuman murder case became even more murky when it came to light that a 16-year-old student of the same school was the prime suspect in the murder case.

“Talvar was about much more than the heinous crime itself, the film held up a mirror to society and exposed several loopholes in the system,” TOI quoted Vishal as saying.

“Such crimes shake the very moral fabric of society and need to be analysed in a much deeper sense. The world is not just black and white, there’s more to a crime than just victim and perpetrator. That’s why we have decided to continue making true crime procedurals like Talvar,” he added.

In a statement to TOI, Priti Shahani from Junglee Pictures said, “Our journey on Talvar was more than just a film for us. It is a telling example of how big screen stories, when handled honestly and sensitively, have the power to alter the lives of people associated with the real incident. We are excited to embark on our vision of compelling storytelling, yet again with Vishal Bharadwaj, and taking the Talvar franchise forward.”
