A case of fraud was registered against actress Sonakshi Sinha by an organiser named Pramod Sharma in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday for not performing at an event in Delhi despite accepting the payment for it.

Four others have also been named in the police complaint alleging that the actress along with four others Malvika Punjabi, Dhumil Thakkar, Edgar Sakaria and Abhishek Sinha defrauded the complainant of Rs3.2 million.

Moradabad DSP Gajraj Singh reportedly said that allegations levelled by the complainant against Sonakshi and the others were found true and that a money transaction took place through net banking.

Accusing the police of inaction, Pramod Sharma had consumed poison recently but was saved. A police official said that they have registered a case after a probe into the matter and the organiser was trying to unnecessarily exert pressure on them by acts like consuming poison.

A statement has now been released by the actress' team to clear the air about the incident and also state that she may take legal action if the organisers continue to release false facts.

The India Fashion and Beauty Award programme had been organised on September 30 last year. Talent Full On Company was roped in for the event and after talking to Sonakshi’s private secretary INR3.2 million was deposited into her account. The Dabangg star cancelled last minute, causing the organisers a great loss.

As per media reports, the audience who were expecting to see Sonakshi perform were left disappointed and they even vandalised the venue in retaliation, which is why the organisers incurred heavy losses.
