Bollywood's new bride Anushka Sharma has added another feather to her cap of achievements by bagging the PETA's Person of the Year Award. The animal right's organisation, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has honoured the actress for her initiatives and efforts for protecting the voiceless living beings.

The 'PK' actress has earlier raised voice against the injustice faced by animals during humanly celebrations and enjoyment. While the vegan has extended a hand to help and protect the dogs from fireworks, she has also advocated against the usage of horses for pulling carriages in Mumbai.

PETA Associate Director Sachin Bangera stated, "Anushka Sharma is a proud animal rights proponent whose kindness and initiative know no bounds."

Bangera added, "PETA is calling on everyone to follow her lead by eating healthy plant-based meals, helping community animals by speaking up when they are suffering, and always keeping an eye out for new ways to help animals."

The generous actress has made various efforts to protect the animals through social media campaigns. Her initiative 'PAWsitive' raised awareness among the masses about the suffering caused by fireworks to animals. Her clothing line 'NUSH' also promotes a cruelty-free environment for animals.

Anushka Sharma holds a special place for animals in her heart and also has an adopted dog called Dude. The kind actress is currently busy in attending her wedding festivities after tying the knot with the Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli in a hush-hush ceremony in Italy.
