Talking about his new show in an interview, Kher said, “It’s a fantastic script, it has an amazing graph and its end is fabulous and every character is very well defined. I have done enough work both in India and abroad, I like to challenge myself.”

According to a tweet by the Bollywood star, the pilot episode of the upcoming series received an overwhelming response at the Boston Film Festival

In the upcoming series, the actor would be seen playing the role of Dr. Vijay Kapoor. The actor while describing his character said, “Dr Kapoor has seen a fast life, he has seen people running fast nowhere, and what centres him is this hospital. He is well read and he knows what it takes to be a doctor apart from just the “qualifications”. I think that’s the greatest quality that Dr Kapoor has.”

He also posted a series of photographs with actress Freema Agyeman and wrote that he is looking forward to working with her in a series.

New Amsterdam is based on the book ‘Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital’ by Eric Manheimer which is produced by Universal Television, Pico Creek Productions and Mount Moriah.
