Known for his socially relevant character portrayal, Akshay Kumar is looking forward to promoting menstrual hygiene with his forthcoming film 'Padman'. The intriguing subject has not just fascinated the audience but also the actor himself, who recently released a new poster of the film.

Holding a sanitary napkin in his hands while supporting a huge smile, Akshay is looking formal and poised standing against the backdrop of large grass wall overseeing the traffic of a metropolis. Kumar's choice of attire and mic attached to his ear suggests a conference setting.

While sharing the poster, Khiladi Kumar added an interesting caption which hinted an appealing fact from the film. He wrote, " #PadManTalks : This pad giving woman two months extra life. Find out how... #PadMan, this Republic Day, 26.01.18."

Produced by the 50-year-old actor's wife and renowned columnist, Twinkle Khanna, the film has piqued the curiosity levels of the eager fans with the interesting posters. 'Padman' revolves around the life of India's 'menstrual man' Arunachalam Muruganantham and his contribution to menstrual hygiene.

Muruganantham - a revolutionary social activist belonging to Tamil Nadu transformed the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. He made the eco-friendly napkins which were easy to carry for village-based women.

Apart from Akshay, 'Padman' has Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. While Radhika will reportedly play Kumar's wife who inspired him to manufacture suitable feminine hygiene products, Sonam is reportedly a social activist who helped him in the implementation of his goal. The R Balki directorial is slated to hit the theatres on January 26, 2018.
