Akshay Kumar Postpones PadMan Release To February 9 For Facilitating Padmaavat

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat has faced a massive backlash from the fringe groups due to the alleged falsification of facts. However, defeating all the odds, the film was finally granted a U/A certificate by Censor Board on December 28, last year.

The makers have recently confirmed that the historical drama, initially titled Padmavati, will hit the screens on January 25 with all the suggested changes. The film was earlier clashing with Askhay Kumar's ambitious PadMan, which the Khiladi has decided to push forward to facilitate the release of Deepika Padukone starrer.

In a joint press conference addressed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar on January 19, the duo announced that on the mutual ground, Akshay's film will be releasing on February 9 whereas Padmaavat will enjoy a single film release in theatres on January 25.

Akshay Kumar announced, "It is essential for them to release the film Padmaavat as quickly as possible, so I agreed to move the release date of my film 'Pad Man' ahead, will now be released on Feb 9."

Thanking Akshay for the great favour, Bhansali said, "Padmaavat has been made after facing a lot of difficulties, we decided on release date of 25 Jan but it was with Akshay Kumar for release of his film 'PadMan', we requested him to move release date of his film ahead, he agreed, will be grateful to him for a lifetime."

Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat revolve around the queen Padmini of Chittore, her husband Rawal Ratan Singh and the adversities they face while fighting the tyrant ruler Alauddin Khilji. With the runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes, the film will hit the theatres on January 25, 2018.

'Padman' revolves around the life of India's 'menstrual man' Arunachalam Muruganantham - a revolutionary social activist belonging to Tamil Nadu transformed the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. Slated to hit the theatres on February 9, 2018, the R Balki directorial also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.
