Akshay Kumar has come a long way as an actor and as a human being. Along with his films, his individual involvement in the social issues and bringing a change to Indian society has intensified, thanks to his lady love Twinkle Khanna's support and social awareness.

Post the release of actor's recent venture 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', which discouraged open defecation, Twinkle posted a picture of an individual peeing on the beach and captioned it, " Good morning and I guess here is the first scene of Toilet Ek Prem Katha part 2 #WhenYourWalkGoesDownTheToilet."

Following the cryptic comment, she was mercilessly trolled on social media for being insensitive to slum-dwellers who don't have access to toilets. Many were pondering the reason's over Akshay's silence but were unaware of the actor's plan to solve the defecation problem.

In collaboration with Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, Akshay Kumar has funded the installation of bio-toilets costing Rs 10 lakh at Mumbai's Juhu and Versova Beach. The little step will help in reducing the issue to a greater extent and ultimately making the area free from open defecation.

"The toilets have bio-digester so there will be no stink. The toilets will bring a lot of relief to not just the local slum dwellers, but also to visitors," said Assistant Municipal Commissioner, K-West ward, Prashant Gaikwad. BMC has said that the act will "partly solve the problem".

BMC had launched a drive to curb the issue of open defecation. Their data suggests that the city had 117 major open defecation spots which they claim have been dealt with. The little step by Akshay Kumar is surely taking Mumbai towards a greater change.
