Only a week before its release, Neeraj Pandey’s espionage thriller ‘Aiyyari’ has run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification. Next in line after the much controversial ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Aiyyary’ is still awaiting clearance for a censor certificate.

Since ‘Aiyyary’ is set against the Army backdrop, the Defence Ministry wants to review the film, a source said. The cast and the crew of the movie, who had been promoting the movie everywhere, is now in a spot as the film’s delay in clearance also suggests that the movie's overseas release will face considerable trouble.

The film revolves around a plot that showcases corruption within the system, that may be the reason behind putting down the screening by the Defence ministry. With the latest turn of events, team ‘Aiyyary’ is in distress as the failure of garnering a censor certification has resulted in the film’s overseas release in question.

The film portrays Sidharth Malhotra as an army officer sharing a mentor-protégé bond with Manoj Bajpayee. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra in pivotal roles.

Aiyyary maker Neeraj Pandey is a master in the espionage thriller genre, as he has already proved his mettle with movies like Baby, Special 26, Rustom and A Wednesday. Let’s see how much time will it take to get a censor clearance for the movie.
