Aamir Khan On 54th Birthday Announces His Next, To Star In The Remake Of Forrest Gump

Actor Aamir Khan chose the occasion of his 54th birthday to announce his next venture on Thursday, which will be an adaption of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump and it is titled, Laal Singh Chadha.

The announcement was made during the media interaction on his birthday. Not only that, Lal Singh Chadha will be helmed by Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan and produced by Viacom18 Movies and Aamir Khan Productions.

"My next film is finalised it is called 'Lal Singh Chaddha'. It is being made by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions together. It will be directed by Advait Chandan. It is an adaptation of Hollywood film 'Forrest Gump'.

"We have bought the rights from Paramount... I am playing the lead role of Lal Singh," Aamir told the reporters. The actor will also go through a massive transformation for his character. The actor confirmed that he will lose 20 kgs weight for the role, along with six months of rigorous preparations for the film.

Aamir also announced that the shooting of the film will start in October and that he is excited to bring something good for the audiences. Aamir went ahead and mentioned that for the past 8 years, he had been trying to get the rights to Forrest Gump and when he finally received it, he decided to go ahead with it.

Laal Singh Chadha is being written by actor Atul Kulkarni. Aamir had shared the idea with him during the Rang De Basanti shoot.

The original 1994 comedy-drama starred Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. In the film, Hanks plays Forrest, a man from Alabama who witnesses and unknowingly influences several pivotal moments in history.

Besides this, Aamir Khan will reportedly play Lord Krishna in his highly ambitious project Mahabharata. While it is unclear whether it will be a feature film or a seven-part series, it sure will be a project on a very big scale.
