'The Lion King' Trailer Sets New Record, Crosses 200 Million Views In Just One Day

The first trailer of the Lion King was released last week, and since then it had become the most viewed Disney trailer debut ever and got 224.6 million global views in just 24 hours.

It is also the second most viewed trailer of all time following the debut of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War's trailer, which had scored 230 million views in its first 24 hours.

"To the entire pride: Thank you for helping the teaser trailer for #TheLionKing become the most-viewed Disney trailer debut ever as it reached a record-breaking 224.6 million global views in 24 hours!" the official Disney account tweeted.

The star-studded cast includes John Kani as Rafiki, Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as comedic duo Timon and Pumbaa.

It is learnt that 'The Lion King' will be released on July 19, 2019.

Sir Elton John and Tim Rice duo will be making the music for the movie which will include some of the original film's most popular tracks.

According to media reports, Elton said, "They need to have a new end credits song. There's going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight', 'Hakuna Matata', 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' and 'Circle of Life'.

Elton also said, "And then there will be an end, closing song, and we've been speaking to Beyoncé's people and hopefully Tim and I can cook up something."
