Shreya Dhanwanthary To Be The Leading Lady In Emraan Hashmi Starrer 'Cheat India'

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Cheat India', based on malpractices in the nation's education system went on floors recently, and now the makers have confirmed the leading lady as Shreya Dhanwanthary, media reported on Friday.

An actress and a model, Shreya has been featured in various TV commercials in association with brands such as Amazon, Gionee, Fogg and 7Up. She has also appeared in several leading web series and has recently been finalised for the Amazon Prime original series ‘The Family Man’. Shreya is a B.Tech degree-holder and trained in Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak.

The producers revealed that as many as 50 girls were auditioned for the role before Shreya was selected.

“We auditioned as many as 50 girls before zeroing down on Shreya. She is a complete natural, and confident and effortless in front of the camera. We were also looking for someone with inherent simplicity and charm, and she ticked all the boxes on our wish-list,” the producers said in a statement.

Shreya expressed her happiness on the selection in a statement to Bollywood Hungama and said, “I am delighted to have this as my first feature. Its subject is topical, compelling and engaging: one that students and parents alike will relate to. I am looking forward to working with Soumik (Sen), Emraan (Hashmi) and the producers, T-Series, Ellipsis Entertainment and EHF. I am in great hands!”

The film Cheat India is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Emraan Hashmi and is set to release on January 25, 2019.

Emraan Hashmi also has a Netflix original series 'Bard of Blood' in his kitty, which is based on Bilal Siddiqi's novel of the same name, published in 2015. The 8-part series is about a former spy Kabir Ahmed “who is recalled from his new life as a Shakespeare professor in Panchgani to save his country and long-lost love.”
