Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Gita Mittal implored the graduating students to prepare themselves for the future as she made her address.
“There are three dictates that I run myself by hard work, humility and honesty. Rest keeps on falling into place. Don’t look at this graduating experience as drastic, it is a part of learning. Back then, women barely got any chance. Women lawyers were scanty. I was one of the lucky ones. I was often told that I was breaking glass ceilings but I felt that I achieved something when I delivered something of value. As Indra Nooyi, CEO, PepsiCo says- “young people should make sure that they carry someone who is not so privileged, as they move ahead.”
Asking the graduating students to serve the society Justice Mittal asked them to look up to their Chancellor Mr Naveen Jindal.
“It is important for you to stay engaged with your troubles. Stay energised, stay engaged, not just for yourselves but for the interest of others. Within the paradigm of CSR, I feel happy to state how the wonderful chairman, Mr. Jindal has operated in his hard days. I urge you to bring positive social change through innovation. I would again urge you to take varied social roles, with a sense of progression. Real successes come when you broaden your horizons.”
Addressing a massive gathering of students and their parents, JGU VC C. Raj Kumar, looked back at the journey of the University and said, “We began the University in a modest manner on 30 September 2009 with only 100 students, 10 faculty members and one school with a relatively small campus in Sonipat. Little did we know that our journey would bring us here with over 4500 students and 330 faculty members and 8 different schools across different disciplines and 800 acres campus with about 200 million square feet of built-up space.”
“This year is a watershed year for JGU for three reasons: first, the International rankings organisation, QS rankings recognised OP Jindal University and ranked as one of the top 300 universities in BRICS region. There are 9,000 universities in BRICS region and JGU being the youngest university was ranked among the top three hundred universities. Around the world, there are 27,000 universities and one-third of those universities are in the BRICS region. We are also the first private university in Haryana to be ranked internationally.” He further added.
