OP Jindal Global University Tops HRD Ministry's 'Swachhta Ranking'

O.P. Jindal Global University in Haryana's Sonipat has emerged as the cleanest higher educational institution across the 3,500 colleges and universities in the country, revealed the Union Human Resource Development Ministry in its first edition of 'Swachhta Ranking'.

Evaluating these educational Institutes on the basis of availability of running water, garbage disposal, kitchen hygiene, student-toilet ratio and modernity of toilets, the HRD Ministry issued a list of 174 colleges and universities under its Swachhta Ranking 2017.

University chancellor Naveen Jindal shared the news on his official Facebook account saying, "Congratulations team O.P. Jindal Global University for being the CLEANEST University in India - First Rank Awarded by HRD Ministry, Govt of India."

As a matter of fact, the university chancellor himself has been promoting and working towards cleanliness for a long time now. Mr. Naveen Jindal has even said that its every citizen's responsibility to ensure cleanliness.

"We keep our homes clean, what's stopping us from keeping our surrounding clean? If we manage to do that, we'll definitely be a clean country," he had said.

The government, on the basis on this list, ranked 25 best of the best educational institutes into four categories - universities, colleges, technical institutions and government institutions.

While O.P. Jindal Global University topped the list in the Universities category, Kongu Arts and Science College, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology made it to the top in colleges, technical institutions and government institutions respectively.
