NIRF India Rankings 2018: IISc Bengaluru Ranked Best In The Country

The Ministry of Human Resource Development on Tuesday announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2018 for Indian institutes at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The announcements were made by Minister Prakash Javdekar along with junior minister in HRD Satyapal Singh.

NIRF was approved by the MHRD in 2015. The first NIRF ranks were announced in 2016.

This year's edition is based on Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.

Several institutions which did not participate in the ratings last year applied this time which resulted in a total of 3,954 institutes in the fray as compared to 3209 institutes last year.

The rankings have been announced in 9 categories - Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical Architecture and Law. Medical is included for the first time this year.

  3. IIT Bombay

Top three institutions university category:

  1. IISC, Bangalore
  2. JNU
  3. BHU

 Top 3 colleges category:

  1. Miranda House
  2. St. Stephen's College
  3. Bishop Heber College

 Top 3 Management:

  1. IIM-Ahmedabad
  2. IIM-Bangalore
  3. IIM-Calcutta

Top 3 Engineering:

  1. IIT, Madras
  2. IIT, Bombay
  3. IIT, Delhi

Top 3 architecture :

  1. IIT Kharagpur
  2. IIT Roorkee
  3. SPA, Delhi

Top 3 Law institutions across the nation:

  1. NLU, Bangalore
  2. NLU, Delhi

Top 3 Medical Colleges in India

  1. AIIMS Delhi
  2. PGIMER Chandigarh
  3. Christian Medical College, Vellore

Top 3 Pharmacy:

  1. NIPER, Mohali
