National Testing Agency To Conduct NEET, JEE, NET Exams: Prakash Javadekar

Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar on Saturday announced that the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) main, the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), and the National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) will now be computer-based and will be conducted by the National Testing Agency.

Javadekar also said that JEE mains and NEET will be held twice a year from 2019 in online mode only. JEE mains will be held in January and April while NEET will be held twice in February and May. Candidates will have two opportunities to give the exam, appearing students will have the choice to attempt both or one but the best score will be taken into account while giving admission.

Addressing a press conference, the HRD Minister said, “There will not be any change in the syllabus, nature of questions, language choice as well as the exam fee, however, the method of the exam is now going to be computer-based only.

He also added that students who don't have access to computers will get a chance to take mock tests at centers identified by the Ministry of Human Resources Development from August onwards.

Javadekar said, "NTA has started its work and will conduct exams from this year, UGC-NET will be the first exam held by the NTA in December this year.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is currently the nodal agency responsible for organizing JEE Main and NEET examinations.
