Delhi University: Forensic Experts To Check Fake Admission Documents From June 2018

Delhi University colleges are likely to appoint a forensic expert team from this year to verify the certificates and mark sheets submitted by students, an official said on Wednesday. This move is being taken to combat the racket of forged documents which is plaguing the admissions channel.

The official said to TOI, "The university's admission committee will ask colleges to engage forensic experts so that attempts made to secure a seat on the basis of fake documents can be identified at the beginning. The university is likely to send out guidelines on this."

The admission committee that has 47 members has recommended to the vice-chancellor, that forensic experts be appointed by all colleges for this year's admission process that will start in June. Later, the V-C approved the recommendations.

The experts will use infrared light for to check invisible writing on documents, use ultraviolet light to see fluorescent marking and fluorescent thread, locate micro-lettering through magnifying hand lens and examine paper quality and thickness through a stereo microscope.

Previously, three Delhi University colleges, Ramjas College, Kalindi College for Women, SGTB Khalsa College appointed forensic experts to verify the certificates filed by the candidates.

Several colleges have already released tenders to employ forensic professionals for verifying documents. 

Delhi Police recently busted an interstate group of cheats who created fake websites of various universities and school boards and prepared fake certificates and sold them to their clients.
