IPL 2018: SunRisers Hyderabad Replaces David Warner With Alex Hales

English opening batsman, Alex Hales will fill in the shoes of David Warner for SunRisers Hyderabad in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. The batsman was bought for his base price of INR 1 crore from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP) list, a BCCI release stated on Saturday.

David Warner who not only was the captain of SRH and also led the team to its sole IPL title in 2016 but is also an integral part of the batting lineup.

However, ever since the ball-tampering scandal came under the spotlight, Warner who initially stepped down as the Captain of the franchise, later was barred from even participating by BCCI.

Cricket Australia has banned Warner for 12 months after investigation his role in the aforementioned row.

Hales, whose limited-overs exploits are no secret, is the only Englishman to feature in the top 10 list of the ICC T20I rankings. He has 1456 runs in 52 T20Is, averaging 31.65 with a strike-rate of 136.32. He wasn't snapped up by any of the IPL teams, going unsold in the auction earlier in the year.
