Rajneesh Gurbani Creates History At Ranji Final, Becomes 2nd Bowler To Take Hat-Trick

Day 2 of Ranji Trophy final match between Delhi and Vidarbha in Indore on Saturday witnessed a historic moment when Rajneesh Gurbani completed his 6 wicket streak by taking a hat-trick and restricted Delhi at 295 runs.

The right-arm medium fast bowler clean bowled Vikas Mishra and Navdeep Saini in the last two deliveries of 23rd over before taking down Dhruv Shorey on the first ball of 24th over. After taking the historical hat-trick, Gurbani became the second bowler to achieve the feat in maiden first-class cricket.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu player B Kalyanasundaram has taken the hat-trick in 1972/73 against Bombay in Chennai. Even after taking three wickets back to back, Rajneesh was not satisfied and rattled Kulwant Khejroliya’s stumps three balls after and culminated Delhi's innings.

Gurbani took down Rishabh Pant and Himmat Singh's wickets on Day 1, castling a total 6 batsmen in the match. Despite suffering a knee injury on Friday, the fast bowler didn't let his team down and earned the respect for his determination.

Following the 23rd over, Gurbani complaint of pain again and received the required medical help but refused to take another bowler take over and came back to the field for completing his hat-trick. He took 12 wickets in the semi-finals to gain the memorable triumph over Karnataka and earned the man-of-the-match award.
