Another Big Blow To South Africa, Quinton de Kock Ruled Out Of ODI And T20I Series Against India

India already has an upper-hand in the limit over format and South Africa's injury crisis is not helping their case either. After AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis' surprising due to their respective injuries, the Proteas’ major run-making force Quinton de Kock has been ruled out of the forthcoming matches due to his intensifying wrist injury.

To the advantage of men in blue, the wicketkeeper-batsman has been ruled out of the rest of the series. De Kock has sustained a major injury during the 2nd ODI against the visiting team in Centurion on Sunday. The player will reportedly need 2 to 4 weeks for recovery, disallowing him to take part in the three-match T20 series as well.

A Cricket South Africa (CSA) press release revealed, "Quinton suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist while batting in the second ODI on Sunday and felt severe pain and discomfort. Further investigation revealed severe bony bruising to the area, with associated swelling around the tendon in the wrist."

"This type of injury will require between 2-4 weeks to heal, which subsequently rules him out of the remainder of the ODI and T20 series against India. The Cricket South Africa medical team will aim to have him ready for the Test series against Australia starting next month," the release quoted South Africa team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee.

Quinton suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist while batting in the second ODI on Sunday which South Africa lost to India by 9 overs, giving the visitors a 2-0 in the six-match ODI series. While AB de Villiers is expected to make a comeback with 4th ODI, skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock will remain out of the matches.
