Nidahas Trophy: India Face Bangladesh, Hoping To Register First Win In Tri-series

After suffering a defeat in their first match against Sri Lanka, India will take on Bangladesh in Colombo on Thursday in Nidahas Trophy. This will be the sixth T20I between the two teams, with India winning all previous five.

The encounter of ICC World Cup T20 in 2016 is an evergreen reminder of how closely matched the two teams can be if Bangladesh turns it up on their day. Even though they failed to win the game with only two runs to score from three balls, the hollow wounds are still yet to heal for Bangladesh.

The Indian squad perhaps might be slightly short on big names, but there is no lack of potential. The key aspect of the fringe players is they are never short on eagerness and enthusiasm, being always on the lookout for the slimmest of openings to break into the national side. With the loss in the previous match, the young side would be motivated to better their performance against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh will be without their talismanic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, but still have the experience of senior players like Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim.

The R Premedasa pitch in Colombo is expected to be favourable for the batsmen. Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal did find some assistance from the surface and the same is predicted for the second fixture.
