Injured Jhulan Goswami Ruled Out Of T20I Series Against South Africa

Senior pace-woman and former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami has been ruled out from the women’s T20 Five-match series against South Africa, which is scheduled in Potchefstroom on Tuesday. The All-India Women's Selection Committee announced the T2OI squad for India Women's Tour to South Africa which didn’t include her name.

BCCI press release stated that Goswami "Suffered a heel injury and underwent an MRI scan on Monday."

"The BCCI Medical Team in consultation with a local doctor felt that she needs rest for a couple of weeks to avoid any further impact on the bone. Upon her return, Ms Goswami will consult a foot expert and will undergo her rehab process at the NCA in Bengaluru." the official release further stated.

Goswami is a virtuoso who played 60 T20 internationals and is the third highest capped woman cricketer in ODIs, having represented India in 166 matches. She is also India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 50 scalps to her name till date.

Goswami picked up 5 wickets in the preceding three-match ODI series which India won 2-1. During the second ODI, She became the first woman to take 200 wickets She did not feature in the third and final ODI after India had already secured the series.
