After sealing the first ever ODI series win in South Africa by India, captain Virat Kohli eyes ICC World Cup 2019 after a solid foundation for preparation.

“We are a team that always wants to think of ways we can improve and after this tour we will look be to even stronger with the 2019 World Cup in mind,” he said after India took a 4-1 lead in the six-match series on Tuesday.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to have created some history. The guys really got stuck in, with the bat and the ball and in the field as well,” he added post the Port Elizabeth triumph.

With this series win, India leapfrogs South Africa in ODI rankings to become No.1. Their status as the No.1 team in Test was also retained even though they lost the series 2-1 to the Proteas.

The sixth and the final match of the series will be played in Pretoria on Friday.

Skipper Kohli hinted of a reshuffling of the pack for this ODI Match to give chance to other people of 17 man squad.

As far as the Proteas are concerned, the going has been a very tough one for young Aiden Markram, who found himself leading the Proteas barely a few months after making his international debut. A 1-5 beating at the hands of the Indians will not only be an embarrassing recollection for him down the road, it could also dent his confidence as a batsman going ahead.

The 2019 World Cup is being hosted by England and Wales, where India won their first global title in 1983 before adding a second on home soil in 2011.
