Heinrich Klassen’s blitz along with captain JP Duminy’s stability was the tandem that South Africa rode as they succeeded in beating India in the second T20I on Wednesday.

Chasing a competitive target of 189, the Proteas chased it down in 18.4 overs with Klassen scoring 69 runs off 30 balls and Duminy’s unbeaten 64 off 40 balls.

Due to constant drizzle pouring in for most of South Africa’s innings, Indian bowlers found it difficult to grip the ball.

South Africa started the chase of 189 runs modestly, with openers Reeza Hendricks and JJ Smuts having a partnership of 24 runs. Jaydev Unadkat broke the partnership when he induced a leading edge in the fourth over from Smuts. Hendricks followed suit in the next over leaving South Africa losing two wickets in powerplay overs.

Heinrich Klassen and JP Duminy stepped up and put on a 93-run stand off 49 balls, anchoring the South African innings.

Klassen struck three boundaries and seven sixes, using the crease to his advantage, as Duminy played second fiddle giving him support.

As the hosts edged their way towards victory, Klassen departed in the 14th over, and from their own Duminy took the onus to bring his team home.

Earlier, Manish Pandey and MS Dhoni scored quickfire half-centuries to help visitors post a fighting total after a terrible start. Rohit Sharma got out for a golden duck and captain Virat Kohli was dismissed for just one run.

India was in a dire need of someone to produce a mature innings from someone in the middle order. They got it in the shape of Pandey and Dhoni. The duo took time to settle down but once they got their eyes set, they smashed the South African bowlers to all around the park.

Sadly, for the Men In Blue, it wasn’t enough, and now with the series perfectly poised, the third T20I on Saturday will be winner takes all.

Terrific effort by India to force responsibility on middle order. Hope ????KLASSEN has taught Indian bowlers a thing or two or three. Hardik must bat before Dhoni, even if both fail in holding their positions...else, youth can get frustrated.BETTER FAIL THAN FRUST! MUST WIN ???? NEXT GAME...WILL ???? WIN ???? NEXT GAME!
