Cape Town hosts a fiery battle between hosts and visitors as the penultimate match of the entire tour takes place on Saturday. South Africa won the Test Series 2-1, while India won the ODI series 5-1. With T20 series hanging in balance of 1-1, this match carries weight as both teams are in search of cricketing supremacy over each other.

It has been a two-month tour for India in South Africa, and while there have been more positives than negatives, it’s clear to see that there are still chinks the armour of No.1 side in Test and ODIs. Head to Head record of the teams this tour favours India 7-3.

The first T20I was won comprehensively by the visitors with standout performances by Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvenshawar Kumar. Southpaw batsmen’s heroics along with Bhuvenshwar’s fiver resulted in a 28-run win. It was one of the most balanced displays by India.

The second T20I saw South Africa fight back and chase down India’s competitive target of 189 runs like a breeze. Heinrich Klassen and JP Duminy anchored the Proteas innings. With this result the series was level and all is to play for in the final T20I.

Virat Kohli will be aware of South African’s strengths and weaknesses by now and is expected to select the team accordingly to seal the series. But, even the Indian captain knows by now that isn’t always an easy task.

South Africa on paper have a rock-solid team and can beat any team in the world on their day. The Achilles Heel for them has always been the mental aspect of the game as more often than not they succumb to pressure.

Regardless of how the tour has gone, the final match has always been an opportunity to showcase their strengths for both teams. With the odds in favour of India yet again, it will be the hosts who will try to spoil their visitor’s party.
