Ajinkya Rahane's Father Granted Bail After Running Over A Kolhapur Woman

Indian Test cricketer Ajinkya Rahane's father Madhukar Baburao Rahane was involved in a fatal car accident on Friday. The vehicle he was driving ran down a 67-year-old woman in Kohlapur, who later succumbed to her fatal injuries in hospital.

The fatal accident took place at Thursday noon on Pune-Bengaluru highway whereas Madhukar was arrested on Friday. The woman was taken to the nearest government hospital for treatment where she was declared dead soon after being admitted, however, the player's father was granted bail in the evening.

Rahane was driving with his family to their hometown in the coastal Konkan region from Mumbai when the accident happened. The Kagal Police Station has filed a case against Madhukar under the IPC section 304 A, 289, 337 and 338.

The accused was driving a Hyundai i20 when he lost the control of his car, accidentally hitting Ashabai Dadasaheb Kamble- a resident of Savitri Nagar in Ichalkaranji. The deceased reportedly was confused while crossing the road and was standing in the middle of the road during the accident.

Rahane was summoned to the Police Station on Friday where is cooperated with the Police in the investigation. Due to his offence falling under charges of causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others, causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others and causing death by negligence, is bailable.

He was served a notice under CrPC 41/1 due to which he has to remain present in the court with his lawyer during the hearing. Ajinkya Rahane is currently playing an ODI series against Sri Lanka with the Indian team.
