Absconding Industrialist Vijay Mallya an accused of Rs 9,000 crores bank loan fraud has appeared before the Westminister Magistrates Court in his extradition case on Wednesday in London.

Mallaya outside the court had said he met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley before leaving the country when he was asked by a media person if he was tipped off to leave the country.

Mallya said, "I happened to meet Mr Jaitley in Parliament and told him that I am leaving for London... I did not have any formal meetings scheduled with him."

Responding to Mallya allegations Jaitely said, "Since he was a Member of Rajya Sabha and he occasionally attended the House, he misused that privilege on one occasion, having been fully briefed about his earlier “bluff offers”, I curtly told him “there was no point talking to me and he must make offers to his bankers.”

"The statement of Vijay Mallaya that he met me and offered settlement is factually false in as much as it does not reflect the truth. Since 2014, I have never given him any appointment to meet me and the question of his having met me does not arise," he added.

When Mallya was asked have you met any other BJP leader, Mallya said, "Over a period of time, I have met many colleagues in Parliament and expressed to them my desire to settle with the banks. I don't believe I owe you any further details."
