Sensex Hit 38,000 or First Time, Nifty Reaches 11,477 Points

It seems to be a time when making records at domestic equity markets are a matter of everyday as both the equity benchmarks hit a new record high on Thursday.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex touched above 38,000 points for the first time, breaking all the previous records.

While Nifty50 touching above 11,477 level recorded a surge by about 0.24 percent.

At around 02:13 PM Sensex was traded at 38044.83, up by 146.96 points with 0.39 percent rise and Nifty50 was traded 11480.30, up by 30.30 points with 0.30 percent rise.

The top five gainers at Sensex were Sharda Cropchem Ltd up by 14.75 percent, Hindustan Construction Ltd up by 12.97 percent, Reliance Communication Ltd up by 10.13 percent, Hathway Cable and Datacom Ltd up by 7.73 percent and CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd up by 6.53 percent.

The top losers at Sensex were NMDC Ltd which plunged by 6.58 percent, IPCA laboratories Ltd plunged by 3.86 percent, First Source Solutions Ltd plunged by 4.02 percent, Aegis Logistics Ltd plunged by 4.28 percent and Bharti Airtel Ltd plunged by 3.94 percent.

Whereas on Nifty, Banks have recorded a strong growth as among the five top gainers three are banks that include ICICI Bank Ltd, Axis Bank Ltd and State Bank of India.

Other top gainers on NSE were Hindalco Industries Ltd and Coal India Ltd.

Bharti Airtel Ltd, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd, Titan Company Ltd, Cipla Ltd and Tech Mahindra Ltd were among the top losers on NSE.

Previously, on August 6 with a 0.60 percent rise Sensex hit a record high at 37,779 points and Nifty 50 at 11,411 points.
