Madhya Pradesh: PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Mohanpura Irrigation Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Mohanpura irrigation project in the Raigarh district of Madhya Pradesh. It includes a dam and canal system. The project costs around Rs. 3,866 crores.

While addressing the gathering after the inauguration ceremony PM Modi said, ”I have just done the formality of launching the project by pressing the button, but its actual launch was done when they toiled hard for it.”

He further added, “Over 700 villages would directly benefit from the project. It would irrigate 1.25 lakh hectares of land, it would also provide drinking water to over 400 villages.”

He also added that it is a great service to women and sisters who face lots of difficulties in fetching water from long distances.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and water resources minister Narottam Mishra were also present at the inauguration event.

Prime Minister Modi is on a day-long visit to the state of Madhya Pradesh. He inaugurated the Mohanpura Irrigation project and will also visit Indore to take part in various programs held in the city.  He will also present the 'Cleanliness Survey 2018' awards to the cleanest cities and the best performing states. 

A report and a documentary made on the survey will also be displayed on this occasion.
