International Furniture Brand IKEA To Open Its First Store In Hyderabad

Swedish Furniture Brand IKEA is going to expand its business in India from Thursday onwards as it’s much-awaited store is all set to open in Hyderabad.

The Swedish furniture company will open its first 400,000 square foot store in Hyderabad where it will sell around 7500 items.

Here in India, the brand has adopted a low pricing strategy than it typically does elsewhere when it opens its first store in any country. The brand will sell around 1000 items for less than Rs 200 a piece.

In a press release., Peter Betzel CEO, IKEA Retail India said, “Our main priority is to create an inspiring and safe experience for both customers and coworkers. Opening the first Indian IKEA store in Hyderabad means a lot to IKEA and we want to offer the best possible meeting with IKEA for the many Indian customers.”

Earlier, IKEA had decided to move the opening date of the first store in Hyderabad from July 19 to August 9 as it needed some more time to live up to its expected quality commitments towards customers and co-workers.

In order to understand the needs of the customer and lifestyles in India IKEA teams had visited over 1,000 homes in India with varied income levels and lifestyles.
