Happy Dussehra! Petrol & Diesel Prices Falls As Global Rates Decline

There is no relation between the Dussehra festival in India and fuel price cut, but still, after a continuous surge in petrol and diesel prices across the country, relief comes on Dussehra so it can be relatable. 

On Friday, Petrol across the metropolitan cities was retailing at Rs 82.38 per litre, decreased by 0.24 in New Delhi, at Rs 87.84 per litre, decreased by Rs 0.24 in Mumbai, at Rs 84.21 per litre in Kolkata and at Rs 85.63 per litre in Chennai.

Diesel was retailing at Rs 75.48 per litre, decreased by 0.10 per litre in New Delhi, at Rs 79.13 per litre, decreased by Rs 0.11 in Mumbai, at Rs 77.33 per litre in Kolkata and at Rs 79.82 per litre in Chennai.

Experts have claimed that a cut in petrol and diesel price came out as a result of international oil prices trading near the lowest level in the month.

On October 4, Prime Minister Modi led government had reduced petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.50 per litre and requested state governments to reduce VAT on fuel by Rs 2.50 as well.

Reciprocation positively to the central government request to reduce petrol and diesel price by additional Rs 2.50 per litre, 10 state government had reduced the prices.

The 10 state governments that reduced petrol and diesel prices were Tripura, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Uttrakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Assam.
