Former Hotstar CEO Ajit Mohan To Be Appointed As Facebook India Head

Facebook Inc on Monday has announced that it has appointed Star India's video streaming app Hotstar former CEO Ajit Mohan as a Managing Director and Vice-President of Facebook India.

Facebook Inc has said that Mohan will assume his duties as MD and VC of Facebook India from early next year thereafter he will be responsible for driving Facebook’s overall strategy and continued investment in India.

Facebook Inc has been looking for its Facebook India head from last one year as former managing director Umang Bedi's had left the position in October last year.

Commenting on the appointment as Facebook India head, Mohan said, "I am delighted to take on the mantle of shaping Facebook's charter in India. It is a unique opportunity to shape the agenda of a company that has brought the world closer together in one of the most exciting markets in the world."

"I look forward to championing India in Facebook and working with stakeholders across the spectrum to help build deep and meaningful communities across the country," he added.

Whereas David Fischer, Vice-President of Business and Marketing Partnerships of Facebook Inc was quoted by IANS as saying, “Ajit's depth of experience will help us to continue to have a positive impact in India across communities, organisations, businesses and with policy makers.”

Mohan, an alumnus of McKinsey and Company's New York office where he worked with media companies around the globe and launched and built Hotstar into India's leading premium video streaming platform.
