Amazon Prime Added More Members In India In Its 1st Year Than Any Other Country: CEO Jeff Bezos

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has revealed that the total number of Amazon Prime Members stand at 100 million, more than the population of Germany.

He also revealed that Amazon Prime added more members in India in its first year than any other geography in Amazon’s history. Bezos mentioned that Prime Video was investing in India original video content in a big way, including two recent premiers and over a dozen new shows in production.

Bezos in his annual shareholders' letter addressed wrote, “13 years post-launch, we have exceeded 100 million paid Prime members globally.”

In his letter, Bezos mentions that 2017 saw the highest number of Prime subscription ever and the company shipped five billion items with Prime worldwide.

This is the first every instance of Amazon sharing the number of its subscribers. Till now only speculative figures were available.

Amazon charges 99 dollars for the Prime Membership in the United States and Rs 999 in India. The Prime Membership offers unlimited free fast deliveries (one day and two-day deliveries which otherwise are payable), Amazon Prime Video and the recently launched Amazon Prime Music. It also gives access to beats deals and coupons.
