3 Paytm Employees Held For Blackmailing CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma For Rs 20 Crore

Three Paytm employees including CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma's secretary have been arrested on Monday for allegedly trying to extort Rs 20 crore from Sharma.

According to Noida Police, Sharma's secretary with other three employees had stolen the confidential data of the company and started blackmailing Sharma with demanded Rs 20 crore for not leaking it.

"The owner of Paytm had made a complaint with the police that their employees, a woman and her aides, had stolen some data from the company and were blackmailing. They were demanding Rs. 20 crore for not leaking it," Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ajay Pal Sharma was quoted by PTI.

"Taking immediate action on it, an FIR was registered and three persons, including the woman, arrested. They are being probed about the data and their modus operandi. Police will share the facts as they are unearthed," Sharma added.

The fourth accused is absconding.

According to reports, the woman secretary had masterminded the extortion bid with other three employees who have been identified as Rupak Jain, Devender Kumar and Rohit Chomal.

The woman secretary was working with Paytm chief for the last 10 years who looked after his personal work.

A case has been registered under the sections 381/384/386/420/408/120B of the IT act.
