Italian superbike maker Benelli on Thursday launched five motorcycles in India, followed by the announcement of its first DSK Benelli showroom launch in New Delhi. It will rival Japanese, US, and Korean makers.
The century-old brand headquartered in Pesaro, Italy, has partnered Pune-based real estate group DSK for the local assembly of the bikes. Marketing, sale and distribution are also with DSK Motowheels, of the group.
- The Benelli TNT 300 is priced at Rs 2.83 lakh
- The 600i at Rs 5.15 lakh
- The 600 GT at Rs 5.62 lakh
- The 899 at Rs 9.48 lakh
- TNTR 1130 at Rs 11.81 lakh
All prices ex-showroom, Mumbai.
“Our main focus is to align DSK Benelli's presence across all strategic locations to generate strong brand eminence. In order to enhance our presence across North India, the country's capital Delhi is an inevitable choice to begin with and is one of our key target markets. Our dealership will not only act as a platform to sell motorcycles but also as a place for DSK Benelli superbike customers to interact with other bikers and share their love for the Italian superbiking experience,” said Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Motowheels.

All Benelli bikes are brought to India via CKD (completely knocked-down) kits and assembled at DSK's assembly plant in Pune.
The company is aiming at selling about 3000 units by the end of March 2016, and to it plans to achieve this goal by aggressively expanding the brand's presence to more cities.
The partners are looking at localising at least some parts of these bikes to help price them more aggressively, but this is long term goal.

Benelli claims that it has already received more than 500 bookings since the company was launched earlier this year, and it looks like the 3000 unit goal is not un-achievable.
