Conquering The Roads: Renault Launches KWID 800 CC

Renault India unveiled its small hatchback in Chennai on Wednesday. Christened the 'Kwid' this model will be manufactured at Nissan-Renault's facility near Chennai.

Priced between Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh, this car is a direct threat to Maruti's Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. The car moreover, looks a crossover of the Duster.

"The Renault Kwid will be priced between Rs.3 to 4 lakh and sales would start happening during this September-November festive season," Carlos Ghosn, chairman and CEO Renault Group, told reporters here.

According to him, Renault Kwid would be the company's "conquest car fighting against the likes of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India" and would be a game changer in the Indian small car market.

Renault India has the the idea to roll out at least two models with a single platform, engine and gear box.



The Kwid will be powered by a three cylinder, 800 cc, petrol engine and jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. Renault has said that the car's fuel mileage will also be the best in India.


The entry level variant would be priced around Rs. 3.2 lakhs.



The Renault Kwid has an exciting array of goodies compared to its price. The Kwid comes with RenaultMediaNAV which includes FM Radio, Sat-Nav, Bluetooth and a 7-inch touchscreen interface.
