Taliban Attacks Afghanistan Military Base, 26 Soldiers Killed

Another tragedy hits Afghanistan on Wednesday as Taliban attacked a military base in Kandahar Province killing at least 26 soldiers while wounding another 13.

The Defence Ministry spokesperson General Dawlat Waziri on Wednesday said, “The terrorists attacked an army camp in Karzali area of Khakrez district of Kandahar last night.”

He added that the Afghan forces ‘bravely resisted’ the attack and killed more than 80 insurgents.

According to the residents, hundreds of Taliban assaulted the military base from multiple directions leaving 26 soldiers dead in the wake of hour long struggle between the Afghan troops and insurgents.

The insurgents have claimed the attack via their Twitter account.

This attack comes days after a suicide car bomb blast hit the PD6 area near Kabul, killing 24 people.

As violence in the country gets worse, more and more conflict related incidents are surfacing across Afghanistan. Just in the first half of the year 2017, the country has witnessed the death of 1660 civilians in armed conflict.

This has been one of the worst violent conditions in Afghanistan. The insurgents have been carrying out more and more complex attacks since the recent confrontation with the Afghan troops.
