The birth of a child is a celebration of life, and is warmly welcomed throughout all cultures. Sadly, for the LGBT community, their version of normal life is not always accepted by others. However, one couple made their dream of a newborn baby come true and both the men could not be happier.
Transgender man Trystan Reese, who was born female, and his husband Biff Chaplow live together in Oregon, US and knew they were made to be parents. The couple adopted two children and then decided to have a biological child as well.
The journey was not easy as Trystan, 34, had begun hormone replacement therapy around 10 years ago. When Trystan first became pregnant, he miscarried at 6 weeks and lost the baby. Not ready to give up, the couple tried again and six months later Trystan was again pregnant. This time the pregnancy ran smoothly and Trystan gave birth to a baby boy.
“The moment he was born was just like a pure moment of bliss, like the happiest moment of my life,” Chaplow told Fox 19. “Just to see the very beginning of Leo, of his life, was just amazing.”
Although Trystan isn't the first transgender man to give birth to a biological, and he likely won't be the last, his story proves that anything is possible.
