Former Heaviest Woman In The World, Eman Ahmed Has Been Transformed

Formerly known as the heaviest woman in the world, Egyptian national Eman Ahmed was brought to India with help from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for life-saving treatment as she weighed 498 kg, months later, she is now able to move her arms, sit properly and speak coherently.

Plagued by several ailments compounded with her weight Eman Ahmed was completely bed-ridden and largely silent. Currently admitted to the Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi after she left India weighing 177 kg, Eman is more active and conversing properly.

Eman who now takes four meals a day is set to undergo liposuction and abdominoplasty in August which will further reduce the extra fat. After those surgeries, Eman is expected to undergo plastic surgeries to shape the extra skin around her arms, stomach, and face.

Medical director at the Burjeel Hospital, Dr. Yassin Shah said to media that Eman will remain admitted in the hospital for at least a year. He highlighted that their next focus is to work on her leg movements.

Eman had been airlifted to India and admit to the Saifee Hospital in Mumbai on February 11 where she underwent treatment until May. Eman's sister, Shaimaa who had accompanied her throughout treatment courted controversy when she alleged that proper care was not being given to Eman. Shaimaa claimed that the doctors had promised to help her sister walk, which doctors denied. Amidst the controversies, Eman was shifted to Abu Dhabi.
