A Solar Power Plant in Datong, China has been built in the shape of a giant panda. Panda Green Energy has installed the array under an agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to advocate for renewable energy.

The solar farm aims to promote sustainable development among China's youth along with the mission of providing clean electricity.

The 100 MW Panda Power Plants will offer 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of green power in 25 years, according to the company, saving 1.056 million tons of coals.

'By designing the solar power station into the pattern of a panda, we aim to stimulate teenagers' interest and enthusiasm for solar energy application', Alan Li, CEO of China Merchants New Energy Group said.

He also added, 'To cope with the climate change, we should not only appeal to the governments and companies but also need to motivate every household, getting the next generation involved in, thus making joint efforts for a green future.'

China hopes to build more panda-shaped solar plants in the next five years.
