Celebs We Lost In 2016[/caption]
The year 2016 comes to an end, and along with it takes away musicians, writers, actors, world leaders and currency notes. Many of the losses will go down in history, for example the passing away of Tamil Nadu's beloved 'Amma' Jayalalithaa, the death of famous singer George Michael and the sudden invalidation of old Rs 500 and Rs 2000 currency notes.
Here is a list of some of the celebs that we lost in 2016:
David Bowie (Age 69)
Born as David Robert Jones, David Bowie was a popular music icon for nearly 50 years, known specially for his innovative work in the 1970s. An English singer, songwriter and actor the multi-talented Davie Bowie passed away on January 10.

Alan Rickman (Age 69)
Born as Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman, Alan Rickman was an English actor and director professionally trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Rickman played a variety of roles both on stage and on-screen, going on to essay the role of Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movie franchise. He passed away on January 14.

Prince (Age 57)
Prince Rogers Nelson was a multi-talented American musician who was a singer, song-writer, record producer and capable of playing a variety of musical instruments. Known for his flamboyant style, Prince was one of the most influential and eclectic musicians of modern times, and delivered hits such as 'Little Red Corvette,' 'Let's Go Crazy' and 'When Doves Cry.' Prince died on April 21 due to an accidental opioid overdose.

Muhammad Ali (Age 74)
Born as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr, Muhammad Ali was a famous American boxer and activist considered to be one of the most celebrated sports figures of the 20th century. During his boxing career, the heavyweight champion Ali won an impress 56 matches from the total 61 he played. Ali died on June 3 from sepsis after a respiratory infection.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Age 88)
The ninth King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej from the Chakri Dynasty, Adulyadej was the world's longest serving head of state apart from being the longest reigning monarch in Thailand history for a total period of 70 years and 126 days. Over the period of his long reign, 30 prime ministers worked with King Adulyadej. Considered to be an anchor of stability and a humble father figure, King Adulyadej was revered in Thailand. Fidel Castro (Age 90)
Born Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, Castro was a famous Cuban revolutionary who led the rebels to victory in 1959. Castro then served as Prime Minister for Republic of Cuba from 1959 to 1976, and later as President from 1976 to 2008, defying the power of US presidents during his tenure. He passed away at the age of 90.

Jayalalithaa (Age 68)
Jayaram Jayalalithaa, the beloved 'Amma' of Tamil Nadu was one of the top actresses of Tamil Cinema before she entered the field of politics. The much-loved Amma served a total of 5 terms as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and brought about great changes for the common people of the state. She passed away at the age of 68 after suffering from a cardiac failure.

George Michael (Age 53)
Legendary British Pop Singer sold more than 100 million albums during his musical career as solo singer as well as with band 'Wham!' Michael wrote his first song when he was 17 years old, the beginning of a four decade musical career. Famous for songs such as 'Careless Whisper', 'Faith' and 'Last Christmas' Michael passed away on Christmas 2016 at the age of 53.
