30 Taliban Militants Killed As Suicide Bomber Jacket Exploded Prematurely

At least 30 Taliban militants were killed in the Farah province of Afghanistan due to an accidental blast of the jacket of one of the would-be suicide bombers, the provincial government spokesperson said on Friday.

According to reports, the explosion took place in the Pewa Pasaw locality of the Bala Buluk district as the militants were readying to attack government security forces' positions.

"As soon as the militants were getting ready for the assault, the suicide jacket of a would-be suicide bomber detonated prematurely, setting off a handful of explosive, killing 30 militants on the spot, and leaving a few militants wounded," said the spokesperson

Since April, Taliban militants have been on the rampage when they launched their annual rebel offensive across different locations in Afghanistan, including the capital of Kabul, killing and injuring hundreds.

Recently, the US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan destroyed a Taliban explosive depot located in the neighbouring Khaki Safed district after an airstrike destroyed two car bombs and more than 1 metric ton of explosive materials in the province, 695 km west of Kabul.

The Taliban militant group has not made any comments on the incident.
