15 Killed, 32 Injured In Army Truck Blast In Pakistan's Balochistan Province

At least 15 people have been killed and 32 others injured when a blast hit an army truck in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, resulting in 2 cars, 4 rickshaws and 2 motorbikes catching fire on Saturday night.

"We can now confirm that 15 people have died in the explosion. At least 32 others are wounded," Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti was quoted as saying.

The army truck was in passing by Balochistan's capital city Quetta when it was targeted by the explosion and nearby cars, rickshaws and motorbikes also caught on fire. Nature of the blast has not yet been identified.

The victims include civilians and members of the armed forces, with at least 8 security forces personnel being killed and 10 injured in the blast. The victims were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta and an emergency has been declared in the city following the incident.

The Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that an on-duty security vehicle was targeted in the blast, "Incendiary explosive was used in the blast due to which nearby vehicles caught fire," said ISPR.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet and security forces have cordoned off the blast site to conduct investigations.

Quetta faced tragedy in June as well when 14 people, including 7 policemen, were killed in a suicide blast in the Shuhada Chowk in Quetta's Gulistan Road area.
