The Supreme Court on Tuesday announced its historic judgement in the matter of triple talaq which according to Muslim law allows men to divorce their wives simply by saying the word Talaq thrice.
From the bench of 5 judges, 3 voted for declaring the process illegal while 2 judges felt that the court should not interfere in 'personal laws'. Outnumbering the protestors, the judge panel headed by Chief Justice of India J S Khehar announced the verdict that triple talaq is 'bad in law' and asked the Parliament to pass a concerned legislature in the matter.
