Recently, a picture of megastar Amitabh Bachchan having lunch with actor Prabhu Ganesan and his family at the Shivaji Illam in April 2015, went viral on the internet, claiming that the dinner set is made of pure gold and costs around Rs.65 crore.
After which Big B on Tuesday took to his blog and wrote every detail about the lunch, putting all the rumours to rest.
The lunch was served on thalis which
was not made of gold, but the moment was golden! I strongly condemn the malicious efforts to spread false and fictitious theories using an image of this memorable occasion.
He also shared the message from Prabhu Ganesan, which reads:
''Shri.Amitabh Bachchan was visiting our home for the first time after our father, Shri.Sivaji Ganesan’s passing. The visit of Mr.Bachchan was very special to our family. He came home to pay respect to my father and spend time with our family. It was a traditional, vegetarian lunch. It was served on banana leaves on copper coloured plates and utensils. The plates and vessels are not gold as some people are making them out to be. It was a very sentimental occasion for us. Please don’t try to turn this special occasion into a joke.''
He further added:
Clarifications in today’s times if not done, tend to be treated as a given fact. I would not have considered this, but I think that with the kind of facilities available in the communication medium, it is imperative that we utilise this opportunity to give perhaps a clearer picture …
Media has a job to do .. it has its work cut out and it is one that is most difficult. It is not an easy job to be able to gather information verify its facts and deliver to a billion people, who we know shall read and discover as truth..
