In the time and century when cases of sexual assault and rape are being condemned by citizens from all around the globe, two critically acclaimed actors are cracking jokes about such a touchy subject. Kangana Ranaut and Jim Sarbh, two Bollywood sensations who marked their presence at 2018 Cannes recently are making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Late Thursday, a controversial video from Kangana and Jim's meeting in French Riviera surfaced the internet which has left the netizens fuming. Shockingly, the 'Queen' actress, who has often raised her voice for women rights and pay disparity also found 'Padmaavat' actor's ludicrous joke on rape funny but much to her dismay, others didn't.

The two actors were reportedly unwinding at the Cannes after-party while representing a liquor brand when Jim Sarbh cited a caricature joke on Punjabis, "I’d rather be raped by 12 prostitutes than touch alcohol and the Punjabi says ‘Me too, I didn’t know that was an option," followed by Kangana and others present nearby laughing out loud.

As expected, post the video went viral on social media, the two actors found themselves at the receiving end of criticism. While Jim was accused of being insensitive, known for her vocal feministic moves, Kangana was called a hypocrite. The duo was called out for their double standards, after which Sarbh's representatives came to his rescue.

Stating that the actor was enacting parts of a "dark satire", his team argued that the video was taken without permission. Addressing the hyped issue, the actor said, "Sexual violence is a serious issue and I treat it as such. It is unfortunate that my comments were taken out of context. I do not now nor have I ever condoned any form of sexual violence."

The reaction, however, took too long as the damage was already done. Social media is loaded with criticising messages for these powerhouse actors, who seemed oblivious to the issues of Kathua and Unnao rape cases which are today's major issues and went ahead to make fun of Rape. Here's how social media users lashed out at the two insensitive actors:
