Famous Radio Jockey Malishka Mendosa has landed into trouble with the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after her Marathi song ‘Mumbai Tula BMC var Bharosa Nai Kai (Mumbai…don’t you have faith in BMC)’ went viral, which took pot-shots at the problems Mumbaikars faced due to monsoon.

Shiv Sena leaders Amey Ghole, and Samadhan Sarvankar have approached BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta, wanting him to file a Rs 500 crore defamation suit against RJ Malishka and 93.5 Red FM.

RJ Malishka's song, which was published on July 10, blames BMC for the woes that locals have to face every year due to monsoons, from potholes on the roads to traffic jams and railway disruptions. The light hearted song comes in the wake of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena having assured a 'trouble-free monsoon' for Mumbaikars.

The song on BMC is inspired by a famous Marathi folk song ‘Sonu Tuza Mazyavar Bharosa Nahi Kay’ which translates to “Sonu, Don’t you Trust me”.

Apart from the defamation case, the BMC has also issued a notice to RJ Malishka under section 281 of Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) Act for mosquito-breeding at her home in Bandra. According to officials, during a routine survey of the sun-rise apartments in Pali Naka her flat was found to have mosquitoes breeding in plant pots.
